Natural chaos is rain on your Mexican holiday.
It’s true that you can’t control the weather but somehow we all think that the sun will shine exactly when we want it to.
That’s why some people here seem to have a bit of a scowl on their faces since the weather went from sunny to cloudy to downpour.
If they stop for a minute they might realize that there’s lots of opportunity in a Mexican rainstorm. You can still read a good book. You don’t need sunscreen. There’s nothing like the smell of the rain or the sound of it hitting the water or the different shades of blue and grey that aren’t usually there in the ocean. You’re already wet when you’re in the pool and on and on.
I passed a guy on the beach wearing a shirt that said:
It’s all good.
Absolutely. Just cause it’s raining outside doesn’t mean it has to be stormy in your head.
Hola.
I don’t know too many people who don’t have at least one thing they want to do but they never seem to get around to doing it.
Like starting a fitness program.
Or losing a few pounds.
Or tackling the clutter in your house.
Or creating a little me-time.
Or whipping your finances into shape.
Or maybe it’s something else.
What I do know is that putting things off brings you temporary relief at best.
And no matter how creative you get, there’s a little corner of your brain that knows an excuse when it hears one.
So why do you put so much time into avoiding the things that you say you want to do?
It’s usually that you are missing one or more of the key elements to quit procrastinating and as my mother used to say, Get cracking!
Maybe you need a stronger reason for doing it.
Maybe you need a little encouragement – or a kick in the butt.
Maybe you need some new strategies cause the old ones aren’t working.
Maybe you need some more accountability.
The other thing I know is when you finally take the leap and stop procrastinating, it doesn’t take nearly as much energy to be successful as it did to keep making excuses.
What have you been putting off?
If you’re looking for a stronger reason, or a little encouragement, or some new strategies or more accountability, check out this program.
He or she who knows that enough is enough will always have enough.

What is enough for you?
I’m always delighted when the universe sends us little reminders of what matters if we are only willing to stop and take notice.
Last week Barbara Walters interviewed actor Patrick Swayze about the current state of his health. Swayze was diagnosed last year with pancreatic cancer and many people immediately began shaking their heads and whispering that it was all over for him.
Swayze shared his philosophy on his situation. He said, “We’re all dying.”
That’s exactly the point isn’t it?
It’s so easy to hang out in denial thinking that we have all the time in the world or to assume that someone with a serious illness has less time than we do. Then he declared that each of us only has 2 choices:
get busy living or get busy dying
Last weekend I held a workshop on creating a vision board. One of the participants was an 80 year old woman who had come to create a vision for the next phase of her life. You’ve got to love that spirit!
She shared that it’s easy to look back in your life and think about the things that didn’t go the way you wanted them to or reflect on missed opportunities. She decided that she would rather look forward to what could come next, to reconnect with her senses and to express more gratitude.
I’d say she’s busy living.
What are you busy doing?
Today people around the world are gathering in front of their TVs or connecting on the internet to witness Barack Obama’s innauguration. Obama has struck a chord in the hearts and minds of people hungry for hope and change.
Everything seems possible.
As a coach I am thrilled and delighted to see this spirit of change infuse the energy and conversation of the world. And I also know that inspiration, no matter how profound, is not enough.
Have you ever been to a great workshop or seminar and became all excited about making a change?
Or heard a motivational speaker who revved the crowd up?
Or have been deeply moved by a tragic or uplifting news event?
You felt inspired, vowed to start making changes and then…
nothing happened.
Inspiration must be followed by action.
Everything that the world imagines is possible with Obama IS possible. This new found excitement and energy creates fabulous momentum to create the seemingly impossible. But it requires each of us to make changes in our lives.
Now is the time to begin to do something different.
What change have you been talking about making in your life?
What do you need to do to live your best life?
How can you make a difference in the world?
So celebrate today. Immerse yourself in the possibilities. Be excited.
And then….
tomorrow take action to begin to make those possibilities a reality.
Leave a comment and share…
What’s possible for you?
There’s no use waiting for your ship to come in unless you have sent one out.
Belgian proverb
What action do you need to take?
A man is rich in proportion to the number of things which he can afford to do without.
Thoreau
How wealthy are you?

It’s about now that people’s commitment to their New Year’s resolutions begins to wane. Before you know it that bounce in your step has been traded for one more hit of the snooze button. Sometimes that happens because you have taken on way too much like planning to go from couch potato to marathon runner in 8 weeks or less.
Small changes done consistently day in and day out lead to big success.
If your resolve to make a change this year is starting to slip, now’s the time to refocus.
Ask yourself some powerful questions about what you want to achieve in 2009. These are great questions to consider in quiet reflection or in conversation with your partner, friends or family.
Get clear about what you want to happen this year and then start with something simple.
What word best captures your focus for 2009?
Your vision only becomes clear when you look into your heart. Who looks outside, dreams. Who looks inside, awakens.
Carl Jung
What is your heart’s vision for your life?
